Spruce Goose
"After many years housed in a plastic tent on a slipway adjacent to the Queen Mary, Howard HUGHES’s “Spruce Goose” is now housed in its own purpose built hangar in Oregon. At the time of its construction it was the World’s largest aeroplane. Sadly the technology of war made it redundant even before it was completed. It did confound all its critics by getting airborne, albeit only once, but its maiden “hop” must have been quite a sight."
